Florida Massage Therapy Requirements
Institute of Somatic Therapy is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) as a continuing education Approved Provider. Our NCBTMB continuing education Approved Provider Number is 280672-00. Our Florida provider number is MCE326 (50-1116 on CE Broker). Our New York provider number is 0019. Our Massage Therapy CE hours are valid for ABMP, AMTA, and most states.

NCBTMB requires that you complete 24 hours of Continuing Education classes every two years. Three hours of the 24 hours must be in ethics. (Three hours of research is no longer required as of February 2019.) No more than 4 hours of the 24 hours may be in self-care. All NCBTMB CEs can be taken through home study or online courses through the Institute of Somatic Therapy, provider #280672-00.
AMTA and ABMP require that you take 48 hours of Massage Therapy CEs every four years. Both Massage Therapy agencies allow all CEs to be taken through home study or online courses through the Institute of Somatic Therapy.

Florida Massage Therapy Continuing Education Requirements:
Florida requires 24 hours of Continuing Education Courses biennially, of which 12 must be relevant to massage techniques, and must be via live classroom instruction. Additionally, there are 7 mandated hours that can be done online: One hour must be Human Trafficking, two hours must be Florida Laws, two must be ethics, two must be Prevention of Medical Errors, and one must be Human Trafficking. We offer a 7 CE "Florida package" course for the mandatory classes, The remaining 5 hours of the required 24 hours are considered "general" hours, and can be made up of any of our courses.
Florida Massage Therapy Continuing Education Courses Accepted:
Institute of Somatic Therapy is approved by the Florida Board of Massage, Provider #MCE-326 (CE Broker #50-1116). Our courses are normally not valid for the requirement of hands-on hours related to massage therapy, as those must be in a live classroom setting. However, due to COVID-19, all 24 of your renewal hours can be done with us online as of 8/31/25. We will need to see if this will be the accepted requirement in the 9/01/25-8/31/2527 cycle. You need a total of 24 CEs, of which 7 hours are mandated subjects (law, ethics, medical errors, human trafficking), plus 12 or more hours of courses specially approved for the covid exception, and up to five additional hours of general courses.
