Course Description: One of the largest growth areas of bodywork has been in the use of spa treatments. The benefits to your client are many, including removal of dead skin cells, detoxifying the body, mineralizing the skin, and relaxing your client.

When you take this course, you will study the theory and practice of spa therapies, including benefits & contraindications of a variety of techniques, and properties of various salts and clay. You will learn a variety of spa therapy techniques, including four types of exfoliations (dry brush, loofa, oil based salt glow and water based body polish), body wraps (aloe, several types of mud, and seaweed), face and scalp treatments, and how to help stimulate cellulite removal. Our training teaches technique for dry room facilities. Of course, if you have a shower, your client may use it instead.

We often get questions about the face treatment portion of this course. The main purpose of the face treat is to continue to pamper the client, and fill time, while the body wrap is working, not to substitute for a facial. Massage therapists cannot legally perform facials. You must go to esthetician training to do facials. What we do on the face is a simple face treatment that includes cleansing, mask, and moisturizer. No extractions, no chemicals, etc. If you believe that even this violates the massage regulations in your state, feel free to substitute a face massage. It is always recommended that before starting any new specialty, you verify the laws in your state.

Do you report our course completions to the NCBTMB, ABMP, AMTA, or any other agencies? None of these agencies have a method for us to report to them on your behalf. They prefer that you provide the evidence of CEs that their renewal process details.
